The €47k Cuppa: Wicklow Coffee Morning Smashes Fundraising Goal

The 15th Annual Wicklow Wide Coffee Morning has raised an incredible €47,528.44 for cancer support services and hospice care across County Wicklow, once again demonstrating the remarkable generosity and community spirit that defines the county.

Now firmly established as a staple of the local calendar, the Wicklow Wide Coffee Morning brings together communities, businesses, volunteers and supporters from across Wicklow to help neighbours facing cancer diagnoses and serious illness. Every donation made on April 24th contributed directly to supporting local people in need.

Importantly, every euro raised remains within County Wicklow, helping to fund vital services including practical transport assistance to hospital appointments, professional counselling supports for patients and families, and specialist palliative care provided through The Wicklow Hospice at Magheramore.

This year’s coffee mornings were held at venues across the county, including The Martello Bray, The Beachhouse Greystones, Kavanagh’s Pub in Roundwood, De La Salle Pastoral Centre in Wicklow Town, the RDA Hall Rathdrum, Arklow Bay Hotel, West Wicklow House in Blessington, Fishers in Newtownmountkennedy, The Pavilion in Aughrim, and Avoca Café at Mount Usher Gardens in Ashford.

The money raised will go directly to support Purple House Cancer Support, Greystones Cancer Support, Roundwood Cancer Support, Wicklow Cancer Support, Rathdrum Cancer Support, Arklow Cancer Support, West Wicklow Cancer Support, and The Wicklow Hospice.

In addition to the official venues, numerous organisations, workplaces and community groups across the county also hosted their own coffee mornings in support of the initiative.

Sinead Kehoe, Coffee Morning Coordinator, paid tribute to the overwhelming community response:

“We were absolutely blown away by the support for the Wicklow Wide Coffee Morning, which is now in its 15th year. This event means so much to people in County Wicklow because you are supporting people going through cancer in your own community. We are so grateful to everyone who donated their money and gave their time to this event. With almost €50,000 raised, we hope this can go some way to help people who are on their cancer journey.”

The continued success of the Wicklow Wide Coffee Morning highlights the strength of community support throughout Wicklow and ensures that essential cancer support and hospice services can continue to provide compassionate care to individuals and families when they need it most.
