Latest News about the River Dargle Flood Defence Scheme

April Progress update 

It’s been a busy couple of months for the River Dargle Flood Defence Scheme project team and to date significant progress has been made with:

  • Phases 1 and 2 have been completed
  • Phases 3 and 4 are ongoing and on time with in river works due to commence in May 2015

During February and March the following works were carried out:

  • Tree felling at Killarney Glen and Glenwood
  • Overall site investigations have been completed
  • First phase of stone cladding to existing walls at Ravenswell Road
  • Condition survey at Seapoint Court is ongoing
  • La Vallee landscaping is 90% completed
  • Contract awarded for stone cladding to Coburg
  • Coburg piling has been completed and over 50% of flood defence wall has been completed

Our focus this month is describing getting a job to construction stage on site

In order to comply with European Union and National Procedures on tendering the River Dargle Team must comply with and adhere to strict rules.

Each stage of the process is broken-down as follows and includes a design and then the construction period:

Throughout April and May the following works are planned:

  • Flood Defence walls & new golf course entrance road at Ravenswell Road
  • Sheet piling and Flood Defence wall works at Seapoint Court
  • Sheet piling to Maltings and Flood Defence wall to Killarney Glen
  • Coburg stone cladding, completion of bund and landscaping
  • Final completion of landscaping works at La Vallee, Riversdale & Halting Site
  • Design works package tender to be issued for the Flood Defence wall at the Irish Rail bridge
  • Award overall condition survey contract for the remainder of the scheme
