Annually in July
The Brave Maeve Family Festival is a free, two-day event held along Bray Seafront, celebrating folklore, family fun, creativity, and community. Originally launched in July 2024, it returns due to popular demand on a weekend in July, running daily from noon until 6 pm.
The Brave Maeve Family Festival is based on the mythical story of Brave Maeve, a giant girl who wakes up beneath Bray Head and sets out on a magical journey across the land.
Her story unfolds along a 1.5 km illustrated mural trail on Bray Seafront, known as the Brave Maeve Story Trail. This trail was originally developed in 2018 by Bray.ie, with artwork by illustrator Chris Judge and input from over 50 local children. It was designed as a public art project to animate the seafront and promote outdoor storytelling.
