Bray Seafront recognised in National IBAL Survey as Irish beaches hit cleanest levels in eight years

Bray Seafront has been praised in the latest An Taisce / Irish Business Against Litter (IBAL) survey, which found Irish beaches at their cleanest in eight years.

The An Taisce report for Bray described the seafront as being in “excellent condition,” noting that the beach was exceptionally good with regards to litter. The assessment also commended:

  • The colourful murals, mosaics and planter boxes that enhance the seafront’s character.
  • The iconic “3 For The Sea” stone signage, which encourages the public to play their part in keeping the beach clean.
  • The playground, outdoor PE equipment, and promenade seating were recognised as being well-maintained.
  • The addition of industrial-sized bins is described as a practical and effective solution to managing high visitor numbers.

This recognition is the result of ongoing collaboration between Bray Municipal District/Wicklow County Council teams, Tidy Towns, community groups, festivals and events organisers, local businesses, and volunteers.

Cllr. Erika Doyle, Cathaoirleach of Bray Municipal District, welcomed the news, stating, “Bray’s success in this year’s IBAL survey reflects the dedication and hard work of so many people who take pride in our town. From council teams and Tidy Towns to event organisers, businesses and volunteers, this is a collective achievement that ensures Bray Seafront remains a safe, clean, and welcoming space for residents and visitors alike.”

Bray Seafront continues to be a focal point for tourism, recreation, and major events, from summer festivals to family activities. This recognition highlights not only the town’s strong community spirit but also its commitment to maintaining high standards for the future.

Bray Seafront is a place to be proud of – thank you to all involved in achieving this success.
