Community Update: Bray Head Gorse Fire Brought Under Control

Wicklow County Fire Service has successfully brought a large gorse fire on Bray Head under control. However, emergency services remain vigilant, and members of the public are advised to avoid the affected area.

Fire crews from both Bray and Greystones maintained a dedicated presence on Bray Head throughout yesterday, working tirelessly to contain the blaze. The scale of the operations required a highly coordinated effort, which was greatly assisted by the vital support of the Wicklow Civil Defence (including aerial monitoring and drone assistance) and An Garda Síochána.

Emergency crews remained active on the scene until 11 pm last night. Fortunately, no further emergency call-outs regarding the site were received overnight.

Following reports of smoke in the area this morning, Bray Fire Service responded promptly and returned to the site. Firefighters are continuing dampening-down operations as required.

Important Safety Note: While the fire is officially under control, dry conditions mean that some hotspots may continue to smoulder and potentially reignite over a period.

For your own safety and to allow emergency crews to work efficiently, please adhere to the following guidelines:

Avoid the affected trails and areas around Bray Head until further notice. Do not put yourself or others at risk.

👀 Remain vigilant if you live in or travel through nearby areas.

🚫 Do not fly personal drones near the scene, as this can severely interfere with emergency operations and ongoing monitoring.

Wicklow County Fire Service extends its sincere thanks to all the agencies involved for their rapid assistance, cooperation, and hard work throughout this incident.
