It’s that time again, the days are getting longer and brighter and the 8th annual East Coast FM Wicklow Wide Coffee Morning is almost upon us; taking place on April 8th with a record number of additional events being held to complement the main 11 venues on Friday April 8th between 10am-midday and indeed right across the County and the weekend to raise money, again, for the 5 cancer support centres and the Wicklow Hospice Foundation.
Event Founder and Co-ordinator Claire Darmody says “Uniquely we are starting this years coffee morning fund off with a sum of €6,500 in it, an amazing starting figure, which was raised by the first ever Wicklow Calendar, “I am thrilled with the success of the calendar, Marlena will be reporting for East Coast fm from the Enniskerry venue on the 8th”
The Calendar was designed, created by Local PR & Marketing businesswoman and East Coast fm reporter Marlena Murphy and local photographer Richie Kelly to raise early funds for the 2016 Wicklow Wide coffee morning fund.
However, Claire says; “there’s a lot of really hard work still to be done to raise another great figure from this years coffee morning events across the weekend of 8th, 9th and 10th, we hope people don’t forget to come out and take part or think that we don’t need their support any longer, the event is established but not guaranteed, we badly need the people of Wicklow to continue to show their incredible generosity and kindness this year”
We need our listeners to take part in the 8th annual East Coast FM Wicklow Wide Coffee Morning in aid of the Cancer Support Services in County Wicklow and the Wicklow Hospice Foundation, over the last 7 years the people of Wicklow have helped us raise over €268,000 for these very important local charities and we really hope they can help again.
This years event takes place on Friday 8th April from 10am to midday coffee mornings will take place in eleven different venues around the county, all people need to do to take part is drop into one of the venues, have a coffee and make a donation and enjoy the entertainment.
As always, service users from the centres we are raising money for, have agreed to voice their personal and emotional experiences with cancer with Freshly Squeezed’s Laura Wood to properly show how vital the cancer support centres in County Wicklow are to their illness, well-being and treatment and of course, to their families, these first-hand accounts are currently being played across the East Coast fm schedule to bring more people to each event.
Some of the celebrities showing their support by taking part on the day with appearances and/or performances include; musicians Mary Byrne, The Swing Cats, Luan Parle, Caoimhe Duane (QUEEVA), Eoin Glacken, Connor McKeon& band, Rory Quinn, Gavin Ralston and sports personality Shane Byrne, TV Personality Lorraine Keane, Former Miss World, personality and model Rosanna Davison, Fair City Actors Pat Nolan and Maclean Burke, Illusionist and Mentalist Shane Black, Comedian, Mind-Reader and Magician Colm Dawson and Magician Carl Campbell and Berry Academy Dancers …with more to follow.
There are also fantastic prizes to be won at raffles at each venue, including overnight stays and midweek stays for luxury hotels, hampers and vouchers for local shops, restaurants and beauty salons.
