ROAD TRAFFIC (Speed Limit) (County of Wicklow) BYE-LAWS

Wicklow County Council in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 9 of the Road Traffic Act, 2004 (No. 44 of 2004), as amended, hereby gives notice of its intention to make Special Speed Limit Bye-Laws in respect of certain regional and local roads within the administrative area of County Wicklow.

The purpose of these Bye-Laws is to introduce Special Speed Limits of Thirty (30) kilometre per hour on designated sections of roads in selected Housing Estates throughout the County of Wicklow, in the interests of prudent traffic management and road safety.

The Draft Bye-Laws together with associated drawings are available for inspection at Wicklow County Council Offices during normal working hours 9.00am to 5.00pm from Wednesday, 9th September, 2015 to Monday, 12th October, 2015 at the following locations:

  • Wicklow County Council, County Buildings, Wicklow.
  • Arklow Municipal District Office, Avoca River House, North Quay, Arklow.
  • Baltinglass Municipal District Office, Civic Offices, Blessington Business Park, Blessington.
  • Bray Municipal District Office, Civic Offices, Main Street, Bray.
  • Greystones District Office, Civic Offices, Mill Road, Greystones.
  • Tinahely Area Office, Coolruss, Tinahely, Co. Wicklow.

The Draft Bye-Laws are also available for inspection by members of the public on the Council’s website www.wicklow.ie Any person may submit observations, comments or objections to the Draft Bye-Laws from the date of the publication of this notice until the closing date detailed below and any objections received shall be considered by the Council. Objections must be in writing and addressed to Theresa O’Brien, A/Senior Executive Officer, Transport & Roads Infrastructure, Wicklow County Council, County Buildings, Wicklow, Co. Wicklow or e-mailed to roadtrans@wicklowcoco.ie and to arrive no later than 5:00p.m. on Monday, 12th October 2015, marked ‘Submission on Speed Limits in Housing Estates’.
