Swiss Air Force special guests at the Bray Air Display on Sunday July 19th

The Swiss Air Force aerobatic team, ‘Patrouille de Suisse,’ are making their Irish Debut at the annual Bray Air Display, which takes place on Sunday, July 19th in association with the Irish Aviation Authority and Bray Summerfest.

One of the top display teams in the world, Patrouille De Suisse were founded half a century ago and are one of the few aerobatic teams to fly in supersonic jet aircraft with active military pilots. Organisers are expecting up to 88,000 spectators in Bray on July 19th, to witness the six red and white jets ‘looping the loop’ along the East Coast.

Making the announcement, the Display Director from Simtech Aviation, Sé Pardy, said: “The Swiss Air Force aerobatic team are a trademark for Switzerland, demonstrating Swiss aerial precision at its very best. Known as one of the top display teams anywhere in the world, their debut Irish performance in Bray on July 19th will be one of the top attractions in this year’s programme. ”

The Swiss Ambassador to Ireland, Maire-Claude Meylan, said: “I am absolutely thrilled to welcome the Patrouille Suisse to Bray. The Irish Sea is just as beautiful a background to the Swiss Alps. I am looking forward to an exciting show from all the patcipants.”

Mick Glynn from the Bray Summerfest Organising Committee said that the annual air spectacular on is one of the major highlights in this year’s festival programme. He said: “Bray Summerfest returns from July 4th until August 3rd and this year, we’re highlighting the most popular events from previous years. In addition to the air show, visitors to Bray can also look forward to an eclectic musical line-up at the Groove Festival, a seaside funfair, food and craft markets, a night of music and the traditional fireworks finale.”

The Black Knights Defence Forces Parachute Team are making a welcome return this year, along with other crowd favourites such as the Strikemaster, the Hawker Hunter, the vintage Aer Lingus Iolar and the MIG 15.

Supported by the Irish Aviation Authority, the annual Bray Air Display is part of an air display-themed weekend, with Shannon Air Display taking place the day before.

The Swiss Air Force is also flying in for a special rehearsal over Bray seafront on Friday, July 17th ahead of the showcase event on Sunday, July 19th. Starting at an earlier time of 2:00pm on the 19th, the public are being strongly advised to avail of public transport as parking restrictions will be in place.

Supported by the Irish Aviation Authority, the annual Bray Air Display (#BrayAirDisplay) is part of an air display-themed weekend, with the Shannon Air Display taking place the day before at Shannon airport.

The Bray Air Display takes place at 2pm on Sunday, July 19th, along the Bray Seafront. An estimated 88,000 spectators attended last year’s air show, making it Ireland’s largest free air show. It’s supported by the Irish Aviation Authority and Bray Summerfest.
