Taylor Swift’s Pebble Frame on display at Bray Library

In June 2024, Wicklow County Council organised a public relations campaign aimed at capitalising on Taylor Swift’s concerts while showcasing the stunning Wicklow coastline. As part of this campaign, transition year students Abigail Devine, Judith Joby, and Kayna Kennedy from Loreto Secondary School in Bray created a beautiful gift in honour of a pebble that Taylor Swift picked up on one of the Wicklow beaches. The exquisite handmade frame features local pebbles collected in Wicklow, symbolising the potential journeys of Taylor’s small stone.

Since the gift did not reach Taylor, the students kindly offered it to Wicklow County Council. The Wicklow Pebble Frame is now on public display at the Bray Library on Eglinton Road.

The story of the Wicklow Pebble was released in early June, alongside the Wicklow Passport Coastline itinerary. This story garnered extensive coverage across numerous media outlets, including articles in national newspapers, features on social media, radio interviews, and even TV segments.

Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council, Cllr. Paul O’Brien said, “This frame illustrates a great itinerary along the varied coastline of Wicklow.  Such a journey can be enjoyed using the Wicklow Passport following on Taylor Swift’s footsteps, and collecting the various stamps at the towns and villages along the way.”

Cathaoirleach of Bray Municipal District , Cllr. Dermot O’Brien stated, “Wicklow County Council is extremely thankful to Abigail, Judith, Kayna, and the teachers at Loreto Secondary School, for such a lovely frame:   It is a testament to the student’s creativity and skill.  We’re absolutely delighted to have this beautiful frame on display at Bray Library.”

Chief Executive of Wicklow County Council, Emer O’Gorman, commented that, “The Wicklow Pebble story was a very imaginative initiative that helped raise awareness to the Wicklow Coast and the Wicklow Passport. Wicklow County Council is keen to extend its appreciation to the Loreto Students for their talent and Loreto Secondary School that have been extremely supportive of the project”.

The Wicklow Pebble Frame will remain on display at Bray Library for the next few weeks. Discussions are underway to organise a ‘tour’ to bring the frame to other libraries in Wicklow for public viewing.
