Cllr Melanie Corrigan has been elected the new Cathaoirleach of Bray Municipal District for the next 12 months.
The annual election for the positions of Cathaoirleach and Leas-Cathaoirleach for Bray Municipal District took place at the Annual Meeting held on Tuesday last (13th June) in Bray Town Hall.
In her acceptance speech, Cllr Melanie Corrigan, stated: “I’d like to thank the Elected Members for their support in electing me to the position of Cathoirleach for the coming year. It is a huge honour for me, and one which I will take very seriously, and will work hard to represent them, the Community and the people in it.
“I want this Municipal District to go far, and that in my role as Cathoirleach, to work with the officials and support them in the work that they do, and to work with my fellow Councillors, to make better lives, and provide better services for the people in the Communities of Bray, Enniskerry and Kilmacanogue, I want to be fair and approachable and work with you all, and I will always be, available to contact, and to discuss issues with. I would also like to thank my family for their continued support.”
Cllr Rory O’Connor was elected as Leas-Cathaoirleach for Bray Municipal District. He said: “I am honoured to be elected Leas-Cathaoirleach for Bray Municipal District. I’m looking forward to working alongside the newly elected Cathaoirleach Cllr Melanie Corrigan in serving the people of Bray, Enniskerry and Kilmacanogue. One of my aspirations in this role is to serve as proof for young individuals who may be considering a future in politics. By holding this position at a young age, I hope to demonstrate that it is indeed possible for young people to make a meaningful impact in their communities and actively engage in the political arena.”
The Elected Members and District Manager Lorraine Gallagher congratulated Cllr Corrigan and Cllr O’Connor on their appointments and wished them well for the year ahead. They also expressed their thanks to the outgoing Cathaoirleach Cllr Erika Doyle for her dedication and hard work throughout the last year.
